Empowering bahamian property owners to enter the vacation rental market

The Tourism Development Corporation (TDC), in partnership with the Bahamas Development Bank, launched the “Home Sweet Home” Vacation Rental Grant Program!

 

This program targets two (2) categories of property owners, including applicants with single or multifamily homes requiring less than $10.000.00 in funding to enter the vacation rental market and single or multifamily homes requiring more than $10.000.00 in funding to enter the vacation rental market.

No, it does not. However, applicants must provide receipts for the amount granted.

A business license is not required currently for a stand-alone Vacation Rental property. However, the Rental property must be registered at https://www.harmari.com/client/reg-portal/register/bahamas

No, because the funding is meant to aid as many Bahamians as possible. The funding is not allocated per property but rather per individual.

    • All applicants must own the property or have permission from the property owner to develop the property for the purpose of a Vacation Rental.
    • All applicants must be Bahamian.
    • Applicants must sit Two (2) half-day training sessions hosted by the Tourism Development Corporation.
    • All applicants are required to submit receipts as proof of work completed using the allocated funding.
    • The vacation rental property must be located on one of the sixteen (16) major island destinations of The Bahamas.
    • Employees at the Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation as well as the Tourism Development Corporation are NOT eligible for this Vacation Rental Grant program.

Any legal document that is registered in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas such as Conveyances, Affidavits, commonage letters, Granted Crown Land approval letters, Last Will and Testaments.

 

Although a business plan or proposal is not required, having one offers the applicant a competitive edge.
